Carlota Izaguirre, DNP, CRNA

Dr. Carlota Otilia Izaguirre (she/her), DNP, CRNA, is a nurse anesthesiologist who views her profession as an offering toward collective healing. Dedicated to providing safe, trauma-informed care for historically marginalized communities, she believes that mentorship, workplace visibility, and educational sponsorship are key to building an equitable future for healthcare.

Dr. Izaguirre holds a BS in Legal Studies from John Jay College (2000), an Accelerated BSN from the State University of New York at Buffalo (2007), and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Pennsylvania (2019), where she graduated Sigma Theta Tau. She is the first Latinè DNP-NA graduate from UPENN’s inaugural nurse anesthesia doctoral cohort. Driven by her vision for a more inclusive profession, Carlota envisioned the co-founding of the national Latiné CRNA Association and has served on the Inaugural Board of Directors for the Nurse Anesthesiology Pride Foundation since 2021—a national organization dedicated to LGBTQ+ Nurse Anesthesiologists.

A Queens, NYC native of Central American (Guatemalan) diaspora, Carlota is a food-loving nature nerd and music aficionado. Outside of the operating room, she recharges by traveling, dancing, mentoring, and embarking on adventures with her partner, her muppet pup Amurí, family and community of beloveds.
